Streszczenie

Choroba przyzębia (periodontitis) to przewlekła choroba zapalna tkanek utrzymujących ząb w zębodole. Objawia się obrzękiem i krwawieniem dziąseł, obecnością kieszeni patologicznych oraz zanikiem wyrostka zębodołowego. Nieleczona prowadzi do utraty zębów, co znacząco pogarsza jakość życia chorego.
Zarówno choroba przyzębia jak i łuszczyca mają złożoną etiologię, ale udowodniono, że niektóre procesy uczestniczące w patogenezie nakładają się na siebie.
Wykazano już powiązanie między chorobą przyzębia a innymi chorobami, dlatego istnieje hipoteza, że również łuszczyca predysponuje do wystąpienia periodontitis. Potwierdzenie tej hipotezy jest istotne ze względu na potrzebę edukowania chorych na łuszczycę pod kątem prawidłowej higieny jamy ustnej, co pozwoli zapobiegać rozwojowi choroby przyzębia i tym samym znacząco polepszy jakość ich życia.

Abstract

Periodontitis is a chronic infectious disease of the tooth-supporting tissues. Gingival bleeding, periodontal pocket formation and alveolar bone loss are the main symptoms. If not treated, may lead to teeth loss, what significantly worsens the quality of life.
Both periodontitis and psoriasis are disorders of complex etiology and some inflammatory pathways are overlapping.
Seeing that there is proven association of periodontitis with other comorbidities, there is hypothesis that psoriasis may lead to periodontitis.
If this hypothesis confirms, it will be important to educate patients with psoriasis in the field of oral hygiene and in this manner improve their quality of life.
