Root canal treatment complications after instrumentation with nickel‑titanium rotary files – a literature review

Abstract
Despite constant evolution of Ni‑Ti rotary files, root canal treatment is still associated with complications. Apical extrusion and increased expression of neuropeptides cause postoperative pain and inflammation of periodontal ligament. Dentinal microcracks and root fractures, canal transportation and apical overpreparation, as well as instruments’ fractures, result in more difficult and invasive treatment methods. The purpose of the article is to present complications that occur during mechanical preparation with rotary files.
