Bezdech senny – rola diagnostyki i leczenia interdyscyplinarnego

Streszczenie
Obturacyjny bezdech senny (OBS) to schorzenie o istotnym znaczeniu klinicznym, charakteryzujące się nawracającymi epizodami zatrzymania przepływu powietrza przez drogi oddechowe podczas snu. Celem pracy jest przedstawienie aktualnego stanu wiedzy na temat etiologii i metod diagnostycznych OBS oraz możliwości terapeutycznych w jego leczeniu, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem roli lekarza dentysty w terapii z zastosowaniem aparatów wewnątrzustnych. W pracy omówiono znaczenie diagnostyki polisomnograficznej, oceny budowy anatomicznej górnych dróg oddechowych oraz zastosowania aparatów wysuwających żuchwę. Podkreślono potrzebę współpracy interdyscyplinarnej między lekarzami różnych specjalności w celu skutecznego leczenia pacjentów z bezdechem sennym.

Abstract
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a clinically significant disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of airflow cessation during sleep. This paper presents current knowledge on the etiology and diagnostic methods of OSA, as well as available treatment options, with particular emphasis on the role of dentists in therapy using intraoral appliances. The significance of polysomnography, anatomical assessment of the upper airway, and the use of mandibular advancement devices is discussed. The paper highlights the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration among healthcare professionals to ensure effective management of patients with sleep apnea.
