Ze względu na zmieniające się potrzeby pacjentów, dla których celem leczenia coraz częściej jest poprawa aparycji, priorytetem planowania leczenia stomatologicznego jest analiza parametrów oceniających estetykę uzębienia. Stomatologia ostatnich 20 lat charakteryzuje się wyjątkowo szybkim rozwojem materiałów i technik do zachowawczej oraz protetycznej odbudowy zębów, pozwalających na poprawę walorów estetycznych uzębienia. Estetyczna rehabilitacja nie polega jednak tylko na rekonstrukcji zniszczonych zębów, ale na osiągnięciu harmonii pomiędzy wymagającymi korekty zębami a sąsiednimi zębami, dziąsłem, wargami i twarzą.
