The phone is ringing

Patient: Good morning, Doctor.

Doctor: Good morning. How can I help you, Sir.

Patient: I would like to make an appointment. My tooth has broken today. Would it be possible to schedule a visit for today?

Doctor: Yes, but only after 8 p.m.

Patient: Thank you very much. I'll be there at 8 p.m.

A few hours later

Patient: Good evening. I have a scheduled appointment at 8 p.m.

Doctor: Hello, please come in and take a seat in the chair please.

Patient: Yes, as I said, while I was eating breakfast this morning, I broke off a piece of a front tooth.

Doctor: Let me take a look. Hmm, the tooth did not break, but the veneer is damaged. There is still a significant part of the veneers on this incisor, but the piece at the incisal edge broke off.

Patient: Well, yes. I had two teeth coated with porcelain veneers a few years ago.

Doctor: Do you have the fractured fragment?

Patient: No, I don't. It happened while I was eating, and to be honest with you, I did not even notice that I broke the tooth.

Doctor: It's a shame because we could stick this piece back. But if you don't have it, then I suggest a different solution. First, we can remove the old veneer and insert a new one. But as you know, it is quite expensive. It would be good if you had it done by a doctor who previously did it.

Patient: Unfortunately this is not possible. I phoned to his surgery, but it turned out that the doctor who did the veneers and who I visit on regular basis went to the UK.

Doctor: Well, therefore I can do it, but as I said it is quite expensive. Another option is to rebuild a the lost fragment with composite. But I have to warn you Sir, that the effect may not fully satisfy you, and, I can't also guarantee that this reconstruction will not fall out. However I can do it even today.

Patient:  I agree with the latter proposal. At the end of the week I am going on holiday and I can not go with a broken tooth. I guess, you'll not make a veneer today.

Doctor: Of course I won't. It requires the participation of a technician, who will make the veneer at the laboratory.

Patient: And how long will the treatment take today?

Doctor: I do not think it'll be more than an hour. Luckily I have etchant for porcelain and silane, as I recently had to repair a damaged porcelain crown. Such repairs happen quite rarely.

Patient: Well, I'm lucky then.
