Gingival hyperplasia – an innovative method of treatment using Er:YAG and diode lasers

W pracy przedstawiono przypadek pacjenta z hiperplazją okolicy zęba 23, u którego zastosowano metodę leczenia wykorzystującą lasery Er:YAG i diodowy.

Abstract
Gingival hyperplasia is a pathological condition of  proliferation of the gingiva that may occur in patients using certain medicines, in patients with bad oral hygiene, and also associated with orthodontic treatment or genetic disease.
If untreated this condition may lead to disturbances in tooth eruption, malocclusions, plaque accumulation, worsening of the chewing function and of speech, bad aesthetics and a generally worse feeling by the patient. The most popular method is gingivectomy. The study describes a case of a patient with hyperplasia in the region of tooth 23, in whom the treatment was with the use of Er:YAG and diode lasers.

Key words: gingival hyperplasia, gingival enlargement, Er:YAG laser, diode laser
