Early orthodontic treatment  using myofunctional appliances  –  review of the literature

Streszczenie

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie dostępnych na rynku polskim aparatów miofunkcjonalnych typu trainer z uwzględnieniem nowych rozwiązań oraz użytych materiałów. Trainery wykorzystuje się w leczeniu wczesnym dzieci  od 4. roku życia i znajdują zastosowanie w leczeniu wszystkich grup wad zgryzu. W literaturze opisuje się wpływ aparatów elastycznych na czynność mięśni twarzy, tor oddychania, typ połykania oraz rozwój kośćca. Badania pokazują, że trainery sprawdzają się dobrze w leczeniu zaburzeń zgryzu zarówno u najmłodszych, jak i starszych dzieci, wpływając między innymi na pracę mięśni twarzy.

Summary

The aim of the study is to describe the availability on the market of myofunctional trainer type appliances, taking into account the new solutions and materials used. Trainers are used in the early treatment of children from the fourth year of  life and find a use in treating all groups of malocclusion. The literature describes the influence of elastic appliances on the function of the facial muscles, breathing pathway, swallowing type and development of the skeletal system. Studies indicate that trainers work well in treatment of malocclusions both in the youngest as in older children, influencing, among others, the action of the facial muscles.
