Metody obrazowe odgrywają istotną rolę w diagnostyce schorzeń onkologicznych w obrębie głowy i szyi. Mają one szczególne znaczenie w ocenie stopnia zaawansowania choroby. Podstawowymi technikami są TK i MRI. Coraz większe znaczenie przypisuje się jednak badaniom z zakresu biologii molekularnej, a zwłaszcza technice PET-CT. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie znaczenia tego badania na przykładzie wybranych schorzeń onkologicznych leczonych w klinikach chirurgii szczękowej.

Imaging methods play a significant role in the diagnosis of oncological disease in the region of the head and neck. They have particular meaning in the assessment of the degree of progression of the disease. The basic techniques are CT and MRI. More and more meaning, however, is attributed to studies in the field of molecular biology and particularly to the PET-CT technique. The aim of the article is to present the significance of this procedure based on the example of selected oncological conditions treated at maxillosurgery clinics.
