The diversity of the spread of dental caries throughout the world creates the necessity to develop new tools for its complex evaluation. An important aspect is the monitoring of the severity of this disease, including the complications of caries. The study describes the author’s own index of clinical consequences of untreated dental caries. This index is called Pulpal Involvement-Roots-Sepsis (PRS/prs) and it enables evaluation of the incidence of caries complications and of an evaluation of the treatment needs from this aspect.
